A happy, healthy cat — ThePurrGuide

An independent guide for cat owners

We spent 200+ hours researching cat products — so you don’t have to

We’ve bought the wrong litter, wasted money on toys our cats ignored, and learned the hard way what actually works. ThePurrGuide exists so you don’t repeat our mistakes.

Why we built this

ThePurrGuide started because honest cat product advice was almost impossible to find — everything was either written by a pet store trying to sell you something, or buried in a Reddit thread from 2019.

So we did the work ourselves. Every guide on this site is built from thousands of verified Amazon reviews, vet-backed research, and our own experience as cat owners. We don’t recommend anything we wouldn’t buy for our own cats.

How we choose what to recommend

📖

Deep research first

We read every review, every forum thread, every vet recommendation before touching a product. Our shortlists start at 20+ candidates.

Strict criteria

To make our list, a product needs 4.7+ stars, at least 1,000 verified reviews, and a genuine reason to exist beyond just being cheap.

💬

No fluff

If a product has a real downside, we say so. We’d rather you buy the right thing once than the wrong thing twice.

Backed by trusted cat-care sources

Our product advice is grounded in guidance from veterinary and animal-welfare authorities. For health and behavior questions that go beyond gear, we recommend the ASPCA cat care guides, the Cornell Feline Health Center, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Always consult your own vet about your cat’s specific needs.
