ThePurrGuide started because honest cat product advice was almost impossible to find — everything was either written by a pet store trying to sell you something, or buried in a Reddit thread from 2019.
So we did the work ourselves. Every guide on this site is built from thousands of verified Amazon reviews, vet-backed research, and our own experience as cat owners. We don’t recommend anything we wouldn’t buy for our own cats.
How we choose what to recommend
Deep research first
We read every review, every forum thread, every vet recommendation before touching a product. Our shortlists start at 20+ candidates.
Strict criteria
To make our list, a product needs 4.7+ stars, at least 1,000 verified reviews, and a genuine reason to exist beyond just being cheap.
No fluff
If a product has a real downside, we say so. We’d rather you buy the right thing once than the wrong thing twice.
